Isael's Right to Exist, and America's Right to Defend Its Borders

Just talked to a cousin who's sister has lived in Israel most of her adult life. Her two sons are in the military and at war now. The Lt. killed that was believed captured, but found dead Friday, Lt. Hadar Goldin, 23, from Kfar Saba;she has known since he was in preschool.

I am very upset that the news has been vilifying Israel. Unless you've traveled extensively throughout the Middle East, you have no idea how Arab leaders hold everyone in contempt except themselves, and either you're a follower or you're dead. Our news media has done a huge disservice to the only Democratic free country in the Middle East, and the only country women can freely live without fear, by condemning any action Israel takes to defend itself. Huge pro-Israeli rallies have been happening in major metropolitan, and cultural centers like New York,Chicago,L.A.and Washington,DC. Globally Canada,Budapest, Paris,Germany, Netherlands, and London have been actively protesting Hamas, and fighting for Israel's right to defend herself.

Latin America has come out pro-Palestinian, which was eye-opening.New Zealand followed. I absolutely think a major part of the sudden surge of "toddlers" across our borders from Central America is linked to this problem. The biggest shocker has been our local reporters manipulating the news out of the Middle East.

Israel is defending her border and has no control over the age or sex of those killed. Every country embroiled in fighting globally is guilty of the murder of  innocents, especially children because they are defenseless for the most part, and have to do what they are told because they are smaller and weaker than grown men with guns. Women are expendable, and found useless except for procreation. Crimes against women and children are viewed as  war crimes, against international humanitarian law, and given a lot of lip-speak by the UN. It happens in places like Australia, as often as in India, Pakistan, Afghanistan,Iran,Africa,Burundi,Somalia,South Africa,Iraq,Iran,Sudan,Asia&Oceania,Myanmar(Burma),Philippines,Singapore,Greece,Ireland,Chechnya,Norway,Latin America,Cuba,Haiti,Columbia, and all of the Middle East. This is just the tip of the war crimes ice-burg heaped upon civilians and children.

The UN High Commissioner of Human Rights, South Africa, Navi Pillay, has also come out against Israel. That's rather like the pot calling the kettle black. There is a huge Jewish population in South Africa, I was wondering where exactly are the protestors? There is a monster Jewish population globally. Jews do have the ability to stand shoulder to shoulder with Israel, gun in hand to ward off all militants, and terrorists.

I have observed that as distasteful as it is, we have to do the same thing at our Southern border with Mexico. That means going to war against children like the rest of the globe.  People seem to understand death better than life. Poor countries and niches in populations live to die so they will go to an afterlife full of rewards and treasures. That's what our three Abrahamic religions have taught us. They have not taught us how to co-exist. Religion is root of this evil disguised as salvation for lost happiness among cultures. Power, greed, and leaders that believe they are gods have taken over populations. and countries.

This is happening to Americans right now. We have armed ourselves because our government can no longer protect us. Congress took a vacation for thirty days because...? They sure haven't worked on solving the first problem. Obama, although I don't agree with everything he says or does, has made us aware unless he uses Executive Orders nothing gets done. This didn't just happen with this do-nothing-Congress. We've had other terrible Congresses. The 19th Century had many crappy congresses. However, this Congress has the lowest rating in history of 13% , with the other modern really bad Congress being in 1940. That's when the Red Scare was the rule and millions of Americans were accused of being Communist, and were blackballed or jailed, and couldn't find work. That kinda means that besides immediate family members nobody likes this Congress. Now we were promised a different Congress when the Republicans took over for the rest of the Obama presidency. Looks the same to me. More shutdowns, more time wasted on trying to get rid of our new health care that's actually working, and more lawsuits against our President.

Anti-antisemitism in America is at an all time high not seen since before WWII. In my own neighborhood, I am fighting an illegal HOA that has resorted to damaging property, stealing property, and secret membership. Exclusion is what they wish. Denial of anyone not Christian in their neighborhood is the goal. However, I will defend myself, even if it's a child. That's very hard for me to admit, but it's true. I don't see an overwhelming number of adults adopting brown children in Texas,California, & Arizona. So just as Israel defends, America must defend.

Anything I'm seeing coming out of Texas or Florida isn't leadership. It's a greedy gross power trip full of back room deals. I don't want another Bush person in the White House. I don't want Rubio in the White House. They are champions of the Oligarchy, not the people.

THE DRAMA PAPERS: Illegal Homeowner's Associations

THE DRAMA PAPERS: Illegal Homeowner's Associations

Illegal Homeowner's Associations

My neighborhood has been doing just this, and I'm hoping others will contact me with problems they're having.

§--Zippyzonk (talk) 14:54, 27 July 2014 (UTC)Due to the liability, regulations, and local ordinances surrounding legal HOA's, secret groups of neighbors band together in older neighborhoods to enforce what they view as distressing violations of their neighborhood. They interpret local ordinances, and persecute violators. Much like Zimmerman used a gun as his enforcer, their main enforcement tactic is secretly stealing property, gossip, and vandalism. Exclusive membership is not open to every neighbor, and religion-based criteria for members is usually present. Their meetings are rarely disclosed to non-members, so they violate Sunshine Laws.Money is collected voluntarily, with no visible accounting, or use of legal escrow accounts are visible. Voluntary dues pay for religious events like the appearance of Santa, or the Easter Bunny. Luminary packages are often sold with no declaration of the purpose of the money. There is a mixture of business models with the most closely copied model being non-profit, and political. The separation of church and state is violated due to the political nature of these illegal associations.Non-members in a neighborhood are ostracized, penalized, and hopefully forced out of the neighborhood. The remedy is to find out who the members are, and get an injunction against their activities, and sue.

Rick Scott,Mary Jane, and the Tea Party Machine

"On June 16, with much fanfare and self-
congratulation, Gov. Rick Scott signed the so-called Compassionate Medical Cannabis Act of 2014 into law. It legalized a non-euphoric strain of pot called Charlotte's Web, authorized a few centers around the state to conduct research on low-THC dope, and established an Office of Compassionate Use. And so you saw headlines sprout up on websites hither and yon to the effect of "Florida Legalizes Medical Marijuana," often accompanied by Scott's smiling mug."
Rick Scott is a Tea Party ultra conservative that is against anything that his god or representative of god tells him is wrong. He's unable to think on his own. He's a stagnant leader, with few qualifications and only wants to line his pockets. He is one of Florida's least popular governors for several reasons.
1.He's cut spending and rejected $2 billion in federal money for high-speed rail. He's required state employees to begin contributing part of their salaries to their pensions and signed a law tightening restrictions on groups that register new voters.
2. In order to reform public pensions, he cut spending on education, slashed environmental regulations and eliminated and curbed development.
3.Scott took pride in cutting an additional $615 million out of the budget with his line-item vetoes.
4.A recent poll by Quinnipiac University found that 57 percent of Floridians disapprove of the job Scott is doing as governor. Only 29 percent approve — the lowest rating of any governor in any state in which polls have been conducted.
5.Scott's a former hospital CEO who ran for governor on the promise he would operate Florida's state government like a business. He spent about $70 million of his own money on the race and eked out a razor-slim win, becoming governor with less than 50 percent of the vote.
6.At 10.8 percent, unemployment in Florida is still well above the national average. And nearly 1 in 5 homeowners is behind on mortgage payments.

Memorial Day Lament

Memorial Day is a very sad day for me. I don't believe in murder, war, or religious excuses for killing. There are no jobs for people to support themselves. So we keep having wars that are supposed to generate money. We should be saving our planet, using killing troops to stop the carbon print, and training our young to seek an education that will help the planet, not destroy it. Drones are fighting for us while we sell our tanks and guns to countries that support us that then sell those weapons to countries that hate us. Drones do kill civilians, but so do troops and bombs. Killing is wrong.
After the Civil War those soldiers lucky enough to make it home were treated for what was called "Soldier's Heart". After WWI it was called "Shell Shock". WWII had "Battle Fatigue". Vietnam soldiers coming home had PTSD. That still stands today. We can't keep up with the cost of PTSD. Our "Do-Nothing" Congress doesn't care about the people now,or in the future.
I still remember my Dad sleeping with a light on every night. I had to be careful to gently wake him then jump out of harms way. He woke up swinging. There is slavery, holocausts, and a million other global reasons to
go to war and kill. We have serious problems with Russia and China. We can't kill everybody, but we can be an example of how to win without conflict. That requires intelligence, leadership, and a groundbreaking new philosophy.
I'm not satisfied with the status quo defense we have now. It doesn't work as we've seen through Julian Assange, and Edward Snowden. Those two I first hated, then went back and re-assessed. They may have done us all a favor by opening our eyes to just how horrific, cruel, and misguided our government leaders have been. Their downfall was finally getting caught. What has changed?
I wish all veterans weren't veterans. I wish they were well, happy, and trained to make money in the private sector. I mourn for those veterans that thought giving their life for me, and their country was the right thing to do. It was a senseless, misguided and unfortunate decision that lead to their death. We murdered them and left their families without a son, father, grandfather, mother, sister,or grandmother. We pushed them over the hill to their death just as surely as if we'd killed them with our bare hands. We are not an enlightened society, but a Middle Age mob looking for scapegoats to defend everything that is wrong with war. Money is our priority. Memorial Day is how we say we're guilty of murder. Bravery must be redefined as progress without murder.Courage is not death. Life takes courage.

Letter to the Editor of Folio Weekly-Response to Godless in the Bible Belt

Dear Editor,

I’m not astonished that John Citrone’s young daughter had that awful experience.  I am horrified this behavior has gone on throughout the millennia times six.

I would like most to convey there is a large Atheist community in Jacksonville. We have meetings once a month, and activities ranging in Free-thought and Humanitarian lectures, to Contra dancing and trivia nights in sports bars.

We have a broad membership of professionals, technicians, Mom’s and Dad’s, Family’s, students, and most importantly recovering philosophers of all denominations, races, and sexual orientations. Everybody is accepted that needs support and believes there is no heaven, hell, god, or devil. We smile, laugh, hug, and are against murder. We are horrified by the so-called war-mentality of the religious sects.  Might verses right has been debated throughout the ages.

Our meetings are an open discussion to whatever is bothering you. Usually it’s something hurtful, degrading, or threatening that has upset a member. We actually “lost” a member because her neighbors found out she was in a business that catered to a religious Christian ritual and they threatened her with putting her out of business if she didn’t sever ties with us! That’s called desperation. Churches have lost their mojo to attract members. There’s a new sect calling themselves “Fight Church” to get butts in pews. Take a look through the realtor boards and see how many churches are for sale!

Churches are not the answer they were even fifty years ago. Their enemy is technology and science. The Bible is a horrible book; especially the Old Testament. The New Testament deals with first century Christianity, and is no better. Both books are editorials and essays by individuals, and social groups, mostly about how to govern. All scripture was taken from the popular pagan gods that came before them. The stories and attributes of those gods, were wrapped into an invisible supreme being of all men. Kings and gods have always been one and the same since the time of the Pharaohs. English Kings, in order to break from the church, made themselves the ultimate supreme commander.

Women are excluded in most of the power of gods and it’s always been that way. They are for reproduction, ownership as property, and always inferior. They have been enslaved for years.

Yes, you are at risk if you speak aloud about your Atheism. People will “pray for you”. Like that does any good. It only helps the lazy person that is doing the praying feel better. It solves nothing.

Religion and politics are very strange bedfellows. They have corrupted our country, poisoned and dulled minds, and destroyed our planet. The brightest, best, and most progressive thinkers of our time have left the angry rants of the oligarchy of the pulpits, and embraced living without fear of the unknown. The truth sets you free, but often makes you miserable first.

Southernism demands clinging to old ways. You see this in our City Council, the D.A.’s office, social clubs like the Rotary Club, and who gets into office. I’ve yet to meet one person that’s happy with our City Council. It’s a judgmental, prejudice, and uncooperative body.

So, John E. Citrone, you have a group that isn’t only sympathetic, empathetic, and outraged over this incident, but sincerely supports you and would welcome you to our groups(s).

Response to Believers

Morris_reader-You've also made some great points. People do have the power to change and evolve. It's called survival of the fittest.A strong self will, with emphasis on the "self", was what made the difference in the courage to change. It lead to mass migrations away from crumbling societies and began the emergence of critical thinking.
http://www.criticalthinking.org/pages/defining-critical-thinking/766
The short list of critical thinkers:
http://austhink.com/critical/pages/great.html
FOX, of all stations, is airing a fabulous show called "Cosmos". National Geographic among other stations are also airing this program that is easy to understand, with prior episodes available. It speaks to the questions of when, where, why, how, and what caused our universe. It's airing in 46 countries!
The old ways are no longer acceptable.Somebody in this comment section wrote that black churches did a better job at influencing their young. How can anybody think that? Take a look at how many minorities are in prison that went to church. Churches have done a pitiful job at parenting.Prisons continue to provide religious belief systems that don't work to inmates. What we've learned is churches are powerful institutions based on outdated belief systems with no futures. Why even you are entertaining the idea of "god-lite", or that there is a difference between religion and a supreme being.
I prefer to face facts, not supposition. Our Father is more akin to an asteroid than an imaginary friend that has done some pretty wicked things to us.Every element in the galaxy is found in our body!I don't know exactly how this happened either but I'm watching, reading, and thinking all the time about how it all happened.
The ancients saw gods in the sky, and blamed them for all bad and good that happened.Halley's comet was noted in 260BC, and returns every 75-76 years.Edward Halley, an English astronomer, determined it's periodicity in 1705. I bring this up because well before Christ and the Christian Bible people had other philosophical orientations based on calculated, mathematical, scientific evidence.
Nobody has gone to war over astronomy!Everybody goes to war over religious differences. It's not going to matter much longer because we have ravished our planet beyond what it can tolerate. Climate change(please don't use "global warming" because it's inaccurate)is real. Fish populations are moving towards the poles where they find it's more comfortable. We have killed the ocean, and it's already been predicted by 2050 nothing will be able to survive in our dead ocean except maybe jelly-fish.
We are in the sixth extinction, and perhaps final death of our planet. Read more:

As the saying appropriately goes: "Not even Jesus Christ can wipe that off of you."

The Corporate Iron Curtain

Businesses are owned by people, and many incorporate to protect partners, shareholders, etc. from various legal problems stemming usually from either non-performance,liability exposure, the IRS, or human error.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Corporate_personhood
The Hobby Lobby, and Chic Filet are just two corporations that have recently been boycotted for religious discrimination, and/or gay bashing. There's many more people waiting to file lawsuits to sue corporations for those two major reasons. The Christian agendas are so wide-spread that FOX news has been defending religious bigots. FOX is a sister station of our local Channel 4. That's morally reprehensible (just ask Pope Frankie),the NFL (was ready to pull the Super Bowl out of Arizona in 2015),and most of the Senate (McCain (R) and a slew of others) switched hitters-pun very much intended- when the public made their voices heard.
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/10/02/hobby-lobby-jewish-boycott-stev...
http://abcnews.go.com/blogs/entertainment/2012/07/ed-helms-boycotting-ch...
Not surprising, churches have the largest number of lawsuits filed against them for child abuse.
http://www.blackchristiannews.com/2014/02/lawsuits-filed-against-willow-...
Next in line for lawsuits are church owned schools, then public schools. Do your own research.
I defend a persons right to believe in unicorns, pots of gold at the end of rainbows,god/gods/goddesses etc., and magic wands. Those are personal beliefs and we all have a right to believe in whatever. I adamantly reject personal beliefs belong anywhere near government. Government legislates, judges, and represents all of us. It must not belong to the most Christian, wealthiest,or group with the most guns.
Go visit some houses of worship, or better known as hook-up socials, and have a good look for yourself. By the way Terry Jones(Quran burning 9-11-14)is at it again in Polk County this time. Not acceptable.

We Aren't Wanted In Crimea

Crimea and the Ukraine have actually been separate countries most of the time with Crimea being called an Autonomous Parliamentary Republic in the Ukraine governed by the Constitution of Crimea. Their history was connected with Russia when Russia rose to awesome power in 18th,19th, and 20th centuries. Crimea was involved with Germany during WWII,the Russian Soviet Federative Socialist Republic, and later the Ukrainian Soviet Socialist Republic within the Soviet Union for the rest of the 20th century. It's important to Russia because it produces 90% of its GOP in natural gas. It sells it to the E.U. so 28 states and Russia are dependent on Crimea for energy.

Crimea has been in conflict for over 2,000 years. They've been part of the Ottoman Empire and governed by Turks,Mongols,Venetians,Greeks...the list goes on.They declare they are Russian now.

We don't belong over there, and neither does the E.U. We are unable to police the world, and in my opinion we have made such a mess fighting Arabs, that until we learn how to fight and win we should stay away from more conflict. We argue until the party is really over and it's too late to make a difference. Russia counted on that and won. Russia also didn't announce anything. It just acted. Until we are able to act as one, then we may as well sit on our couches and watch the slaughter on our own streets.

Russian Subs Are Anchored Around Cuba

1. Please learn how to read people. The headline had the words "off the Florida coast". Where exactly do you think Cuba is out there? It's off the Florida coast.

2. This is very similar to how the Cuban missile crisis began in 1962.

3. The distance from Cuba to the Florida tip is 90 miles. More importantly, the distance from Cuba to Washington,DC is 1110.8 miles, or well within range of intermediate range missiles. We don't need to even address nuclear weapons.

4. 450,000 troops are more than sufficient to protect us. It's a cutback of 5.6%, a far less cry from the 25% reduction Chaney advocated in June of 1990.
http://www.nytimes.com/1990/06/20/us/cheney-gives-plan-to-reduce-forces-...

5. Warfare is absolutely changing, and technology is playing a huge role. We still need a few human beings, but nothing like our dinosaur armies of today, or the tanks, planes, and guns we're not even using.

6. Sequestration has played a marked role in forcing military cutbacks. Congress wanted this, and so did the people who elected them.

http://www.theamericanconservative.com/articles/sequestration-the-way-to...

7. Putin, in his afterglow of Sochi, recognizes the Western countries need him. We need him to help maintain stability all over the world. From Syria, to Africa, to the Ukraine and the doors to Europe, and the entire East like China,North Korea, and Indo-China. Include a major influence in South American countries like Venezuela, Brazil, and Peru, Panama, and Chile.Russia is a wealthy super power, and we just refuse to recognize how egregious they really can be.

http://oilprice.com/Geopolitics/International/Russia-And-Latin-America-D...

Are you getting this picture yet? Everywhere we are, the Russians are and/or have been. There is nothing new happening, just more power, and money at stake.

8. Putin is on his third term, with 65% of the vote. He is the new old
Russia.

Pensions Are Outdated

No additional,or new taxes will solve this very complicated problem.Pensions must be outlawed in the future if the city is holding them. Jacksonville has the resources and ability to pay these contracted pensions, for now. The leadership finds it far easier to place the burden on taxpayers, once again, then reign in ridiculous expenditures for studies, stop the hemorrhaging practice for excusing non-profits from paying taxes, and allowing churches to amass fortunes in wealth from tax-exempt lands. Speaking to the argument that the churches do so much for free to help our community, I'd like to see in black and white numbers how the "good deeds" are actually translating into dollar for dollar giving. In other words, if a church owns land worth 10 million dollars, then let me see ten million dollars worth of receipts going to house the poor, save our environment, or other such accounting for their privilege of not paying the public back for their exempt property status. And that's just the beginning.Instead of keeping old buildings up to code so they can be re-sold, the city has ignored, bulldozed, and lost taxes on prime properties. Personal residences have been allowed to deteriorate without enforcing building code violations. All you need to do is go to the permitting site online and see for yourself which buildings and residences have been neglected. A roof lasts just so long, especially in this climate.Air-conditioners last an average of seven years.Hot water heaters must be replaced on a regular basis.Instead our Council argues over whether or not chickens can be in residential neighborhoods, rock music must be banned because it disturbs a handful of religious maniacs on the river, or slips legislation through without public knowledge that is selling 136 million gallons of our river water a day to Central Florida. We seem to be more interested in killers like Dunn, or running a marathon than getting wormy-Golums out of our city politics, especially the Council. Our D.A. is a prime example. Why in this world are we throwing more money at another Dunn trial? He will die in prison. He deserves it.
Back to the pension problem. I just cannot get excited about people that rely on anybody but themselves for retirement benefits. I did it myself, but also paid attention in school, worked my way through school, and chose a profession that would make me money. I have had a number of careers, not just one. I never expected a free handout from my family, friends, or god. My destiny has been my own. People do not want to work, and love quick, painless fixes until they discover there are no such things out there.
The lack of health care has resulted in 26,000 deaths. This is just one cite among hundreds on the internet. Any church in town paying for health coverage for a poor person? I bet they pay for retreats on a regular basis.

Dunn andd Zimmerman

I know of no law, I am speaking of the "stand your ground", that isn't misused. Dunn was a murderer, and Zimmerman a vigilante. Cory chose to go after 1st degree murder, instead of second degree murder. Her big torture device hung shiny around her neck. Dunn will go to prison for 75 years with no chance of parole. That's pretty much the end of Dunn. The media chose to exploit, and give air time to the point of nausea to Dunn and Zimmerman. There were so many other issues during those weeks that took were truly newsworthy. Our media, and poor leadership of the D.A. caused a mistrial, and the taxpayers will pay for it.Still people want to kill Dunn twice.
Small minds will see this as racist.Last Saturday on the stretch between University to Phillips Highway along Old St.Augustine Road, the black churches which dot the area, were and have been packed. Megaphones blared with slurs, and the music coming out of cars was turned up full force. So what? The "what" I speak of is that once religion solved problems, now it simply creates them. Killing, disrespect, power, force, and greed come from our church members. The Bible is a heinous collection of rabid stories that rival Grimm(the fairy tale book not the TV show). They came from people who wondered where the sun slept at night.Goodness, respect, integrity, honor, faith and honesty come from within. Churches have become the meetings out of the Sunshine. They tell their members how to vote, and are strategy sessions, not prayer groups. They are the daytime Sunday nightclubs for hook-ups.They are clubs for the poor. They advocate violence, and are the mafia. That has always been their history, and continues today. They are about war not peace as they always have been.

Vitti Announces Separation of the Sexes in Education

Hamas requires the separation of the sexes when it allows women to be educated.
http://www.aljazeera.com/news/middleeast/2013/04/201342101959704457.html
Orthodox Judaism requires the separation of the sexes in prayer, and many ceremonial, and secretive rituals for both men and women.
Wood County,West Virginia requires the separation of the sexes and there are blatant differences in the quality of education for women.
http://forcechange.com/30911/stop-gender-segregation-at-public-school/
This is a huge step backwards for Duval County, steeped in religious overtones, disaggregation attitudes, and is costly. There is absolutely no reason for this 19th century approach to education, when a higher education wasn't suitable for women, or minorities.
http://www.chesapeake.edu/library/EDU_101/eduhist_19thC.asp
http://www.units.muohio.edu/mcguffeymuseum/student_exhibits/site/oxford%...
http://www.chesapeake.edu/library/EDU_101/eduhist_19thC.asp
You have to be against this "wolf-in-sheeps-clothing" approach to public education. This is yet another way to keep women subservient, and a door open to persecute races.
Vitti is dangerous, and his Republican ultra religious cronies a threat to our freedom.Education will soon be for the haves, while laying the foundation for denying education to all.

Corey Is An Embarrassment To Jacksonville

Corey was fired by State Attorney Harry Shorstein, who cited "long-term issues" in her supervisory performance. Corey alleges the dismissal was due to her decision to campaign against Shorstein's preferred successor in the election for State Attorney. Following her eventual electoral victory to replace the retiring Shorstein, Corey dismissed more than 20-percent of the employees in the Attorney's Office, a move Shorstein described as "a bloodbath." The feud between Corey and Shorstein continued to capture headlines during Corey's first year in office after the Florida Times-Union, citing inter-office emails, reported Corey's chief assistant had instructed employees to avoid conversations with Shorstein because they might appear disloyal to Corey.
She's a despicable and poor excuse for a State Attorney. Her personal religious beliefs have always been a part of the picture. Most S.A. want to learn as much as possible, first hand about a case. She's lazy, incompetent, and prefers to let others feed her information. Her undergraduate work was in marketing. Her family owned a grocery store. She's no Einstein, and ridiculously biased.
I've written for years about knowing who you vote for, and the lack of candidates available for public service. Over the years I've come to the conclusion that if a profile lists your religious affiliation before your actual accomplishments then you're voting for the wrong person.

Vote for Mayor Brown

Mayor Brown's problem has been with the City Council. Remember, the Council led by Gulliford, has done nothing to solve problems, only create them. The 14% property tax increase has hurt all homeowners. The pension plan debacle remains unsolved. The talk of a 6% tax increase on fuel or sales is still an unresolved issue sitting on the Council's doorstep. What ever happened to the river dredging that already has caused bulkhead failures along the river? That was to bring huge numbers of jobs to Jacksonville. Yet we continue to lose jobs, and businesses. Our schools are a nightmare, and I don't have to tell you how terrible the score is for Rutherford with Duval County now the murder capitol of Florida! Then we've got the Council meddlers like Don Redmon that believe rock music is the Devil's music, and chickens belong in residential neighborhoods. The Council is backed by draconian Christian values and the rest of us don't matter.
I'm voting for Brown again. The rest of the leadership reminds me of the movie "Mean Girls". Corey being one of the nastiest with her huge torture device hanging around her neck, and her Christian values reminding me more of Vlad the Impaler, or the Crusades than the belief system of the Pope.
Republicans aren't remotely interested in the majority. Theirs is the party that believes money rules and god likes that.

Jacksonville City Council Continues to Cherry-Pick Public Events

The people in the neighborhoods that have complained are religious, and the number of complaints have been around forty. Save Rockville, a Facebook site, has been following this since the nightmare began, and was started by Don ("Chickenman")Redman. Banning, or cherry picking events, has been adopted by the City Council, not the people of Jacksonville. The noise report was based on a skewed report that found frogs louder than the concert. This has to do with the violation of first amendment rights, and the draconian belief that rock music is the devil's music. It's interesting to note only select people have complained on the opposite side of the river. There have been no complaints from the side of the river the venue actually takes place.
Noise from the Fl/GA game goes on for a full week. The noise from the Fair goes on for 10 days. No complaints have been reported. Very strange indeed. The Council now wants to build an amphitheater on the Northside for concerts. Metropolitan Park was built for recreational use by and for the people on a garbage dump. The park was set up to accommodate a variety of venues, including concerts. The Council has continuously charged concerts weren't included in that deal.
I've written many letters to Council members, and three have even bothered to write me back. Those letters have been posted on the Rockville site.
Jacksonville cannot compete with the St.Augustine amphitheater. Too little too late. The Jacksonville Beaches have musical venues in the streets all the time and nobody complains about the noise.
I live on the river directly across from Everbank Field. The complainers don't live on the river, except for one. This makes me conclude that all the fuss ain't about noise!

Just Say No To Disrespect?

There are common threads here nobody has touched upon. Religion has failed all these children and their misguided parents. God isn't in control, and neither are the church leaders, parents, educators, or Mayor. Television, movies, books are not responsible either for the lack of a clear division between reality and fantasy. Guns, and other weapons aren't responsible for poor behavior. I am a huge fan of Pope Frankie, and I think for all you religious followers you  must pay attention to what he's saying. He actually called a group of Spanish nuns to wish them a Happy New Year, and got their answering machine.

And so it goes...we are so self-absorbed we don't even answer our own questions or try and resolve our own problems.
I live in a so-called very religious neighborhood. The Christmas "gee-gaws", lights, and blow-up Santa's were an absolute embarrassment to my common sense. PBS last night addressed the problem as a monetary driven economy devoid of any values, and other cultural issues.

We are a nation that sends our youth either to jail or into battle if they are poor, or a problem. We seem to be stuck in the Middle Ages, and boy do we like to quote the past as the litmus test for our future. We may as well be casting bones to make decisions.
How dare people try and dictate personal choices! Again, this is from the Pope, not me: http://nyunews.com/2013/09/24/kefferwoodruff/
Humanists, Atheists, and Critical Thinkers have a very different way of looking at societal  problems, and have never broken the law to the extent they end up in the local newspaper. Fifty percent of us do not believe in god, heaven or hell, or might makes right especially if it's backed by a whole bunch of money. And we are growing.
We are the ones that want to protect our planet because we have to live here. We are the ones that are telling you football is a gladiator sport that scrambles brains and causes unhealthy choices that usually end up with the player in jail, or eventually broken in some way. We are the ones saying that there must be a livable wage, not a minimum wage. We must take care of our elders and provide health care for all. That's just some of the reasoning that's going on in other sectors of our population. Seems like better goals than go to church so when you die you go to a magical place. If that were true I think people would line up to die like they are lining up to buy weed in Colorado!
Last point: regardless of your belief system, it needs to stay in sync with others. Never must we attempt to govern by one belief system. Belief systems are personal. Government is for all.
