Our job is to make sure these turnips don't get back into office in any capacity. They have shown us that personal witch-hunts are more important than city business.I don't think this bunch has the capability to run a city in the Sunshine. That's why we're always surprised, and a little too late to fix most problems.
It's interesting to see the backgrounds of these elected members, and "at large" members. They are overwhelmingly white, male, and very religious. There is a separation of church and state, but their power comes from their theistic sub-groups that were responsible for electing them in the first place.
Here's an interesting factoid I've discovered over my 42 year experience in elections(not age). Find a neighborhood near a church, and see which candidate is the most popular.Since there are over 400 churches in Duval County alone, it's a fun way to predict outcomes of any Southern community election. It works on the state level too.Heads of churches, synagogues, and mosques strongly urge their parishioners to vote in a specific way. That is one reason we're never really happy about how elections turn out.
The other way to elect people is to do a lot of research before an election. Do it on your own.Use newspapers, and the internet.Go outside of the norm if you really want to make a difference.Every local news station supports or rejects candidates. To make a difference you have to dig. Go into backgrounds and find out where they came from, did they attend school, and who's in their networks. The networks they choose tell you what friends, and businesses they align. Some have no business experience and just packed up a briefcase(or smart phone) and began attending meetings. In my opinion housewives make the worst candidates because they make the best puppets.
To summarize, our unhappiness rests with us.
