Just Say No To Disrespect?

There are common threads here nobody has touched upon. Religion has failed all these children and their misguided parents. God isn't in control, and neither are the church leaders, parents, educators, or Mayor. Television, movies, books are not responsible either for the lack of a clear division between reality and fantasy. Guns, and other weapons aren't responsible for poor behavior. I am a huge fan of Pope Frankie, and I think for all you religious followers you  must pay attention to what he's saying. He actually called a group of Spanish nuns to wish them a Happy New Year, and got their answering machine.

And so it goes...we are so self-absorbed we don't even answer our own questions or try and resolve our own problems.
I live in a so-called very religious neighborhood. The Christmas "gee-gaws", lights, and blow-up Santa's were an absolute embarrassment to my common sense. PBS last night addressed the problem as a monetary driven economy devoid of any values, and other cultural issues.

We are a nation that sends our youth either to jail or into battle if they are poor, or a problem. We seem to be stuck in the Middle Ages, and boy do we like to quote the past as the litmus test for our future. We may as well be casting bones to make decisions.
How dare people try and dictate personal choices! Again, this is from the Pope, not me: http://nyunews.com/2013/09/24/kefferwoodruff/
Humanists, Atheists, and Critical Thinkers have a very different way of looking at societal  problems, and have never broken the law to the extent they end up in the local newspaper. Fifty percent of us do not believe in god, heaven or hell, or might makes right especially if it's backed by a whole bunch of money. And we are growing.
We are the ones that want to protect our planet because we have to live here. We are the ones that are telling you football is a gladiator sport that scrambles brains and causes unhealthy choices that usually end up with the player in jail, or eventually broken in some way. We are the ones saying that there must be a livable wage, not a minimum wage. We must take care of our elders and provide health care for all. That's just some of the reasoning that's going on in other sectors of our population. Seems like better goals than go to church so when you die you go to a magical place. If that were true I think people would line up to die like they are lining up to buy weed in Colorado!
Last point: regardless of your belief system, it needs to stay in sync with others. Never must we attempt to govern by one belief system. Belief systems are personal. Government is for all.
